A fretted Clavichord based on an instrument by the German Fortepiano and Clavichord maker Christian Gottiob Hubert dated 1784.
The keyboard compass is C-f3 (54 notes). The lowest bass coarses are strung using a brass core with a 'wide' overwind of copper. The brass tangents are tuned to specific temperaments. The instruments have a fabulous tone and feel.
The cases and lids are framed in solid cherry with dovetail joints. The bottoms are pine and the soundboards are European spruce. The keyboards have carved tails, ebony touchplates for the naturals and bone-topped ebony accidentals. A table stand with four turned legs is available.
